When you left by Nadia Kingsley When you left
the house still looked the same
but you had taken the boiler
and I could not stay warm.
The lighting shifted to a dimmer mode,
the stereo sounded out of tune,
the small rooms echoed with emptiness
and the TV revealed a blank screen.
I should have packed up and got away
but hiding in the corners
was some of your laughter
wrapped up in dust and cobwebs
and so I stayed.
